U.S. Rep. Virgil Goode Hosts National Endowment for the Arts Grants Workshop

Danville, VA – U.S. Representative Virgil Goode of Virginia’s Fifth District today hosted a special grants workshop conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for local nonprofit organizations. The workshop, held at The North Theatre, was part of the NEA's outreach to Virginia organizations about federal funding opportunities and the process of applying for Arts Endowment grants.
At a news conference prior to the workshop, NEA Deputy Chairman for Grants and Awards Robert Frankel said, "The National Endowment for the Arts is committed to supporting the arts in communities throughout the country. I am delighted to be here in Danville today to encourage local arts organizations to apply for federal grants."
Rep. Goode said, "I am pleased that Mr. Robert Frankel visited Danville and spoke with arts and cultural groups throughout the Fifth District about programs and potential funding opportunities from the National Endowment for the Arts."
Also participating in the news conference was Peggy J. Baggett, executive director of the Virginia Commission for the Arts, who spoke on the state of the arts in Virginia and the important relationship the NEA has with the state arts agencies. Forty percent of all Arts Endowment funds go to the state arts agencies.
