Stephen Lang, a playwright and actor who has starred in theater, film, and television, has received widespread acclaim throughout his professional career. Born in 1952, he graduated from Swarthmore College and began his career in theater. He later starred on Broadway as Colonel Jessep in A Few Good Men, and he appeared as Happy in Death of a Salesman. His performance in The Speed of Darkness earned him a Tony nomination. He is also known for his work in feature films, having portrayed Gen. George Pickett in Gettysburg and Stonewall Jackson in Gods and Generals. Additional film credits include Tombstone and Last Exit to Brooklyn. Lang has acted in such television series as Crime Story and The Fugitive, and he portrayed the title character in NBC's telefilm, Babe Ruth. He has been honored with the Helen Hayes Award, Joseph Jefferson Award, and the Grace Prize, and he has received nominations for the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Tony Awards. In 2004 Lang starred in the world premiere of his one-man show, Beyond Glory, which he adapted from the book of the same title written by Larry Smith. Beyond Glory recounts the riveting personal stories of seven men who received the Medal of Honor for their acts of courage in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
